The History of Our Church
and Its Renovations
Bistro l'Angélique was born from a dream: to create a warm, flavourful culinary space while breathing new life into a historic church, a heritage building that shaped the former settlement of Dover, now part of Memramcook.
Built in 1882 and unused since 2005, the church was in a state that required a great deal of love and significant work to bring it back to life when we took possession in 2021.

Becoming l’Angélique
Over four years, we lived through moments of discouragement, magic, setbacks, and excitement, pouring thousands of hours of work into restoring it while preserving its soul.
The renovations held many surprises, including the discovery of historic windows hidden behind the walls, which we carefully restored.

Soul of History
Much of the original architecture was preserved, including the ceiling woodwork, the mouldings surrounding the small windows, and those along the walls.
Turning the planks from the old church pews and ceiling into tables has created a space that bridges the past and the present.

The Renaissance
Today, the church has been transformed into a vibrant dining room where we honour the past while celebrating the culinary creativity and local flavours of the present day.
The original building has been extended to include a modern kitchen and bathrooms.
